SCOPE
The 2nd International ICST Workshop on e-Forensics Law and Judicial Expertise (to be held on Wednesday 10 November 2010) will focus on the legal and regulatory aspects of e-Evidence (digital evidence) and e-Forensics and judicial expertise in telecommunications, information and multimedia. The International Workshop will:
- identify international status and trends in e-Forensics, Digital Evidence, Cyber-tort, Cyber-crime, Cyber-Law and Judicial Expertise
- identify the major challenges in e-Evidence legislation and enforcement and judicial practice
- inquiry the theory and technology and related laws of e-Forensics and judicial expertise, and consider whether technology can be trusted for its reliability and neutrality
- analyse the cases of e-Forensics and judicial expertise
- identify the nature of e-Evidence (digital evidence) and how it is collected in the digital domain
- identify the major challenges in obtaining, marshalling, collating, analysing and presenting digital evidence
- explain how e-Evidence (digital evidence) is presented (applied) in the trial process
- consider the role of judicial expertise departments and legal regulation in the digital age
Key topics to be considered in the 2nd International ICST Workshop on e-Forensics Law and Judicial Expertise will include issues in the following areas:
- Cyber torts, Cyber rights, Privacy, identity, biometrics and data protection
- Cybercrime, digital crime, information crime, high technology crime and related defenses
- Existing laws related to e-Evidence, e-Forensics, Judicial Expertise and network and information security
- Principles, technologies, methods, procedures, regulations and methods of Computer forensics (or e-Forensics) and judicial expertise
- Data-mining and profiling
- e-Discovery, electronic signature and applications
- e-Risk liability, security, regulation and governance
- Intellectual property protection under the network environment
- Information property (assets) protection in Cyberspace (Information Space)
- Virtual worlds and social networks, Internet governance and related laws
- Role and function of e-Forensics experts and judicial expertise departments
- Broader legal issues will be considered where there is a clear application to e-Forensics Law and Judicial Expertise
PAPER SUBMISSION
The conference language is English. Authors are invited to submit the full manuscript (4 to 6 pages including references) of their paper, for oral or poster presentation, in Adobe Acrobat PDF format using the web. Paper submission will be handled electronically. Authors should prepare an Adobe Acrobat PDF version of their full paper. All submitted papers will be subject to a rigorous peer-review. Papers must be formatted using Springer LNICST Authors' Kit and submitted only through the ASSYST conference management system. Papers must not exceed the limit of 6 pages including text, figures and references. The font size must be at least 10 points.
The front page must contain the title of the paper, full name(s) and address(es) of the author(s) and the appropriate academic field(s). The complete mailing address(es), telephone number(s), FAX number(s) and email address(es) must be provided on a separate sheet.
In submitting a paper, the author(s) agree that, upon acceptance, they will prepare the final manuscript in time for inclusion in the published proceedings and will present the paper at the conference. The final manuscript will not be published without advance registration.
PUBLICATION
All submitted papers will be rigorously reviewed by the international program committee. All accepted papers will be included in the printed and electronic E-Forensics 2010 Conference Proceedings to be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes of ICST (LNICST) Series and reviewed for indexing by various indexing services such as EI, ISI, DBLP, SCI Google Scholar, INSPEC/COMPENDEX, SCOPUS, EBSCO and ScitopiaEI.
